In an effort to prepare for the next pandemic, an event considered by many experts to be inevitable, The City of Joplin Health Department, The Jasper County Health Department, in cooperation with various state and local organizations, developed The Joplin-Jasper County Pandemic Influenza Emergency Plan.
On 5 October 2006, The City of Joplin and Jasper County Health Departments sponsored an initial meeting to introduce this plan and receive input from various representatives from this community. As a result, The Pandemic Planning Coordinating Committee was formed and continues to meet monthly. This committee is dedicated to increase public awareness and provide educational efforts for pandemic response. |
